“Whether it’s figure or abstraction, drawing as a medium simultaneously involves analytical observation and intuitive mark-making. In recent works, exploring the idea of emerging forms offers exciting possibilities, as the forms relentlessly shift between representation and abstraction, always reaching but never fully becoming. Drawing’s meditative essence comes through in the rhythmic repetition of mark-making, alluding to the dilation of time while closing off the outside world. Writing, architectural elements or organic/inorganic grids function as a point of departure, always remaining in service of the drawing as a whole.”
